The golden woodcarving work of the altarpiece of the high altar was done by the bracarense artist Damião da Costa in 1695.

The pipe organ was made by Manuel de Sá Couto and ordered by the Holy Sacrament Brotherhood in 1815. In between hornets and pipes, the organ has around 600 different pieces.

The big pelmet is a recent woodcarving masterpiece made by local artists at the beginning of the 20 th century. The baptismal font also from the last century grips your attention by the quality of its marble work and for the artistic ebony lid.

Saint Victor - patron saint

According to a very ancient tradition, and stated in several documents being the oldest from the 9 th century, S. Victor was born in Braga in the last quarter of the 3 rd century.

He was persecuted by Maximianus or Dioclecianus because he denied rendering worship to goddess Ceres and god Silvanus, eventually being killed in the 4 th century.

Interestingly enough, in 2004, the Vatican decided to remove S. Victor of Braga from the list of more than 5,000 existing catholic saints, after concluding that S. Victor never existed, being just a myth.

Myth or not, it was in this church that Diogo and Eduarda attended Sunday mass during the 4 years that they lived together in Braga.
